Green goodies from...Google?

Google Store's recycled frisbees
Fashion News
Channels: Fashion News Tags: organic, mail order, recycled

We all know Google (or Blackle -- its 'energy-saving' alternative) as the modern day equivalent of a bookshelf of heavy encyclopedias, but it's not exactly the first thing that springs to mind when you think of green shopping. So it comes as quite a surprise to hear that Google's online store has a new green intiative and is selling all sorts of eco-goodies from organic t-shirts to recycled notebooks.

You can even find an organic baby hat, recycled yo-yo set, recycled frisbees (pictured) and, on the US site, hemp hoodies, soy wax candles, pencils made of recycled blue jeans and a hemp footie bag -- all emblazoned with the famous Google logo. Plus instead of plastic polybagging, Google is using recycled wraps and stickers when shipping items.

Which is all pretty impressive -- unlike some of the store's non-green products like the flashing Google badge or pot of 'Google goo'.

Pinnacle Journey 1.0 2008
Cheap and cheerful -- the Journey hits the value bullseye. And doesn't end up a horrible compromise in doing so.
Mezzo d-10
Too costly, particularly compared to its d-9 sibling. But despite that, this is the state-of-the-art for folding bikes -- fast, light, practical.
Puma Glow Rider
The emperor's new bicycle -- all marketing and no trousers. Over-expensive, handles and folds poorly, doesn't glow well enough, and is stealable despite the weird cable-cum-downtube.
Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
