The ethical Paris Fashion Show

Modelling for the world's biggest ethical fashion show

From an old warehouse to the trendy Tapis Rouge showroom, the Ethical Fashion Show has come far from its humble beginnings, just four years ago. Kicking off on 11 October, the four-day event took eco-chic to new heights as 83 designers from over 40 countries gathered in the fashion capital, Paris, to show off their organic and fair trade creations.

Designer Isabelle Quéhé set up the Ethical Fashion Show in 2004, with the aim of providing a place for ethical designers to share ideas and be introduced to new markets. Since then it's grown immensely in size as well as importance and is now the biggest show in the world devoted to organic and fair trade fashion.

Quéhé said: "The 2007 edition of Ethical Fashion Show [was] a resounding success and confirms the validity of our philosophy for the event. It was the first, and still is the only event in the world entirely dedicated to eco and socially conscious fashion. This year was marked by a significant attendance by professionals from 'traditional' fashion sectors. The same people who snubbed us when we started in 2004, came en masse this year. Whether it means they are starting to consider environmental and social issues in their job or whether they are here to take stock of the great designs and creativity does not really matter. It means that we are making positive dents in the fashion industry, and our work is validated."

Clothworks, Emmeline 4 Re, Judith Condor-Vidal, Satoshi Date and Tonic t-shirts were among the British designers that exhibited at the Ethical Fashion Show. Emmeline 4 Re, who was also recently up for an RSPCA Good Business Award for promoting animal welfare, described the Paris show as "an excellent platform to showcase British Ethical Fashion to the European Market."

Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
Brompton M3L Folding Bike
This British-made folding bike has small wheels but goes for big money -- and is built for practicality
Dahon Jack 2008 Folding Bike
Bigger wheels do mean better speed and stability -- but a bigger, more awkward folded form, too
Sony Bravia KDL-32V2000
You won't find a better TV for picture in its class, but you will find ones with superior green credentials
