Bag some money for your green ideas with Anti-Apathy and EnergyLab

It's a great time to be a green inventor or entrepreneur in the UK, it would seem. Yesterday we wrote about the Dragon's Den-style event in London, where brave entrants can win funding for their ideas, and now there's news of two more chances to bag some money for your environmentally friendly plan.

Energy company, E.ON, is offering up £15,000 of prizes to green inventors in their EnergyLab competition. Focused on physical inventions rather than business plans, the competition has two categories -- one that is open to anyone, and one open only to people working in or studying technology. As well as the cash, there's also the opportunity to get some free expert advice and consultancy.

The beauty of the E.ON EnergyLab is that it's open to everyone regardless of age or experience. "I’d encourage anyone with a nifty energy-saving idea, however simple, to get online and take part," says ex-Tomorrow’s World star, Philippa Forrester, who launched the competition and is appearing on the judging board.

The other chance comes in the form of the Fix World, Feel Good Award from Anti-Apathy. The scheme, which unfortunately has no nostalgic celebrity endorsement, is providing a series of £1,000 grants to people with ideas that can make a difference. Anti-Apathy has already handed out five £1,000 grants, but there are still five more up for grabs. The grants are designed to show that "a small amount of money can be used to make a difference".

Deadline for entry to The Fix World, Feel Good Award is 8 November, while you have until 30 November to enter the EnergyLab contest. There is also still time to enter the Sustainable Technology Forum's Dragon's Den-style event in London, if you're feeling brave.

Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
Brompton M3L Folding Bike
This British-made folding bike has small wheels but goes for big money -- and is built for practicality
Dahon Jack 2008 Folding Bike
Bigger wheels do mean better speed and stability -- but a bigger, more awkward folded form, too

You won't find a better TV for picture in its class, but you will find ones with superior green credentials
