Today's news is all about making the finer, green things life easier to enjoy -- with some bits on London Fashion Week, organic veg gardens and wine.
RSPCA dress on London Fashion Week Catwalk
Ethical clothing brand Wildlife Works brought conscientious fashion to the esteemed London Fashion Week catwalk yesterday with its RSPCA dress from the autumn/winter 08 collection. The dress will retail at £350 -- £40 from the sale of every dress go to the RSPCA and three per cent of total sales will go towards funding Wildlife Works' eco factory and wildlife sanctuary in Kenya.
Lush urges nakedness and minimum packaging
Ever green and conscientious Lush urges us to go naked this Valentine's Day and cut down on the amount of unnecessary packaging we create in form of presents, cards and wrapping. Alternatives? Well, as many of Lush's other products, the heart-shaped Tisty Tosty bath ball with seven rose buds and the French Kiss bubble bar both come without packaging. And at around £3 each, they don't break the bank, either.
Grow green grub with B&Q
B&Q has put its green face on again and has made it easy for us to grow our own organic veg this summer. There will be more than 50 different organic herbs and vegetables to choose from, including purple sprouting broccoli and Golden Sunrise tomatoes. All plants are sold in compostable pots, so we can just dig them in the soil and wait for the goodies to appear.
Cheers to Co-op for Fairtrade wine discount
The Co-op has decided to help us celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight by running a 20 per cent discount on its Argentine, Chilean and South African Fairtrade wines, some of which have won Fairtrade Wine Awards. The promotion is on from 18 February to 9 March. Cheers, Co-op.
