I'm thinking that most cars still use keys as do homes/offices. Those aren't the keys for the bottle lock, it's just a place to put your keys while you are riding.

Who uses keys anymore with bike locks? Didn't that bic-pen bike lock fiasco convince anyone that keys were passe? And storing the keys in the bottom? How many people do you think will be stupid enough to forget and leave the keys in the bottle and lock their bike up that way...or better yet, don't lock the bike and some passer-by just steals the lock, complete with keys from the bike in half a second...you'll need a bike lock for your bike lock!

Love the well-thought-out solution. The re-winder is very cool. The only issue is the inherent strength of the cable. It's simple to cut cable. If you have to bring a U lock - and you really should - then you're just carrying around additional weight for no real reason. Maybe an articulated U lock that folds in half with a bottle-mount connector? Can't believe, though, Ms. Sumi's comment about using the bottle for water, too. Doesn't make a bit of sense, given the purpose of the lock (how and where it is used, etc.). Same feeling about some of her other "but" comments for other products.
