Time for retailers to check out self-checkout technology

The supermarket that I shop at most often has self check-out. Compared to me, a clerk will find a bar code on an item faster, is more likely to pass an item across the reader only once, and is better at filling grocery bags. Also, he has a hand-held reader, I don't. Self check-out might be cheaper for the store, but it's slower for the customer.

If I'm going to do the job of a cashier, then I expect a discount.
Otherwise, fuggedaboudit.

I absolutely refuse to use self-checkout. Robots are stealing jobs fast enough. Every time someone uses the self-checkout they are cutting down the number of employees a business needs. So far I have never seen the prices getting lower either. I will wait in line rather than go through a self-checkout. I have had clerks try to get me to go through and they will ???help??? me. They will help me more by getting behind a cash register and getting to WORK.

Not for me either. No discount, no use!

I hate them, seems like every time I use one I end up asking for help. They take longer than having somebody check out the items. And they can't answer questions. If you have one or 2 items it might not be so bad, but even when I had 2 items it screwed up, and they had to come and help. No thank you I will wait in line.
