Madrid pollution
There is one other factor that I believe contributes to Madrid being one of the most polluted cities in Europe, and that is the way the central heating systmes are used and operated around here. Not only are they used even when temperatures are not that cold, but also, because many residential buildings still have central heating systems, i.e., not-individual systems whereby an individual household decides on when and how to use its heating system and pays for it accordingly, but a system whereby the overall building consumption cost is distributed among the building's dwellers no matter how much they have used the heating individually, the efforts on responsible and individual saving attitudes are seriously hampered. And then it rains so far and between around here, and yet they still call that bad weather.
Nice article.
