Adaptation
The stress of male genes to cause descendants from living to maturity may work in a short period of time but may change the way the females choose mates to reject those genetically modified males. The lethal gene would become more rare as the species adapt to this new stressor. We have bred more malicious bacteria by indescriminate use of antibiotics. Prescribing antibiotics for virus based diseases (like colds) and also stopping the prescribed course of antibiotics has helped aggressive bacteria like MRSA become ever harder to control.
The use of genetically modified mosquitos could bring a more robust and resistant mosquito instead.
