        <description><![CDATA[Bayer once claimed (unofficially) that they could stop the common cold, if an aspirin was taken at the right time. I believed it, and for many years it worked. Because of a stroke, I am on a daily low-dose aspirin regime. Now I read about a study out of Norway (I believe) that it could also be responsible for the WMD (wet macular degeneration) that I suffer from.]]></description>

        <title><![CDATA[Research competence?]]></title>

        <description><![CDATA[You have to wonder about the lack of appropriate research to address the questions of aspirin's risk/benefit ratio. Not including how the aspirin is taken - for example with food or without and or the amount of liquid taken with it, significantly impacts the gastrointestinal risks - to the point of all but eliminating them with food, and almost assuring damage without. The lack of prioritized, critical thinking and basic experimental planning and management going into this kind of research is dismally depressing - as is its slowness. There is an obvious link between anti-inflammatories and cancer and we should understand and optimize that knowledge. It isn't happening and other than general incompetence - there is no good reason.]]></description>
