It's gonna suck when our enemies have that technology
And we didn't invent it, so we don't get to say.

It's all part of the same program
The "Joint" in the "Joint Strike Missile" and "Joint Strike Fighter" means this is a joint program with NATO and other very close US allies. All the technology is being cooperatively developed. It will not be sold to China, Iran, or any of our potential adversaries.

Nobody's expecting the US to go to war with Norway any time soon...

Wasn't that a miss?
Don't you want to penetrate the hull and not the containers on the deck? What gives? I am pretty sure the exocet dive's into the deck of its target, a more effective way to sink a vessel.

A bit too good?
Marvellous to see the missile rip through the ship.
But... is it just me or would you want the missile to explode while inside the ship instead of ploughing right through and disappearing in the water on the far side of the ship?

Target ships are expensive.
They do not usually sink a ship until final live warhead tests.

Deterrent?
I would not like to be on the receiving end.

One would think that after seeing the low altitude stealthiest of this cruise missile it would scare the heck out of someone it being used against, but there are those who still believe God will save them, heaven help them.

star wars
it's exciting to see more, and more destructive, technology all the time. explosives and fireworks always draw a crowd. but do we need more video-game wars, sanitized and distant (for whoever shoots the high tech)? does security rest on the illusion that you have, at any one time, more bang than the other guy, in a permanent game of leapfrog? without the oil of the north sea, norway would not have had more than forest products to finance arms like this. that oil is now running out. within a few years, this dandy rocket will be obsolete.

Do we in fact need them at all
Since these modern "wars" are mostly fought through computers, far far away from the frontline, why not take the hole step forward and remove the suffering out of wars. Let's put some trained "fighters" behind the keyboard of, lets say 100 computers. Same thing behind the enemylines. Then these 200 idio.. I mean videogame players must play without interruption or rest until one side wins (or there is a draw). No real casualties, no destroyed monuments, no posttraumatic stressdisorders. They may modify their wargames as they please, while remembering that if they do a too good job out of it, then the winner will be the last player still awake.

war games instead of war
That would be great idea in theory. Legend has it that the game of chess was actually invented as a substitute for war, but obviously that hasn't quite worked out. Unfortunately, these kinds of conflicts will likely always come down to making the opposing side submit through brute force.
