        <description><![CDATA[Going off historic accounts, in August of 1635 the Great Colonial Hurricane first hit Jamestown Virgina as a likely catagory 5 and a day or so later hit Plymouth colony as a likely catagory 4.  Both colonies and many natives were hit hard.In 1782 there were 2 rare October hurricanes 2 weeks apart.  The second storm dropped snow.An estimated catagory 3 hit Massachusetts in October of 1804 that also dropped snow.The Great September Gale of 1815 hit Providence, RI with estimated 135 mph winds destroying 500 homes.  A 14 foot storm surge sank 35 ships in Narragansett Bay.]]></description>
