Bio-Fuels will work.
If they ever figure out the algae technology so that bio-fuel production does not impact food production.

I'm sure some group out there will find something wrong with that solution as well!

Dealing with problems going green at a macro level
The ability to transform the way we do things but what stands in the way is a lack of cooperation and e reality that people are unwilling to set themselves aside and work for the greater good. Geed, pride and a lack of understanding how all the pieces fit together are causing a retardation on what can be done. This airline is trying to amend their ways and see protesters are not seeing that because they are so binded by an ideological perspective that does not offer anything but criticism not a logical integrated plan that people can put in place to change things. I have a difficult time with many of these people for that reason. If they are worried about food resources then they shuld present some viable solutions as to how to address the problem. 1/3 of the planet is desert... Much of which could be reclaimed for agriculture if we really chose to do so. But these same people would find a problem with that also and nearly anything else that could be done.

Logically focusing in a solution
Being that 71% of the planet is water and 1/3 is desert does it not sense to build more desalinization plants and pipeline systems to get water from places that have it to places that have too little. This is a logical step towards reclaiming and restoring depleted water resources around the world and further more such large scale projects would put many people to work around the globe. It is the first step in dealing with these issues...
1. Lack of water
2. Desertfication
3. Sub par agriculture
There is a logical flow line which must be addressed when tackling major issues. Focusing on the micros or the macros alone will not bring about this logical flow line or lead to solving the pressing issues which face us.

Micro climate change project.
There was a project in the 1980s that was going to build what were essentially giant cooling towers in Death Valley for power generation and a terra forming experiment.
The plan was to desalinate seawater and pump it in from the coast. Pumping cost was to be kept low by using gravity feed techniques developed by the Romans to get water to the valley floor 280 feet below sea level.
Solar and wind power would then power pumps to spray the water at the top of the towers. The falling water-cooled air was to spin turbines built into the towers.
They expected the down wind plume of moisture from the towers to be kind of a natural irrigation.
The power production was to be modest with the biggest gain being the natural irrigation of down wind crops verses trying to pump in fresh water from inland.

Friends of Earth rains on Lufthansa biofuel parade
Elimination of "Friends OF Earth" and other enviromental groups would allow this issue to resolve itself.

Censorship
Obviously all groups whose opinion you disagree with should be eliminated. We've seen how well the market works to regulate itself over the past few years.

It's rare that Friends of the Earth and I agree.
Now if we can only get them excited about our equally insane ethanol policy.

Re: Protestors
Robbie Blake is from Brussels, Belgium. He went to universities in England. He protests biofuels in Hamburg, Germany.
How did he get from England to Belgium to Germany without using more than his share of CO2? Even if he walk (across the English Channel?) he would exhale more than the normal CO2 for humans who aren't walking cross-country.

Friends of the Earth are no friends of people
Friends of the Earth would rather that you all wear home spun natural fibers grown on the plot of land assigned to you by them. A plot of land that you eek out an existence on using rocks tied to sticks since any form of metal would require smelting and that in turn requires use of some fuel. They of course would live in their towers overseeing all the peasants toiling on the soil since they are the arbiters of what true and politically correct sustainable ecosystems are. Humm, I think I have seen this sort of thing in the history books, maybe, yes I remember now, it was the life of serfs under the nobles of Europe. I would like FOE (interesting how that TLA comes out :-0) expects to feed 7 billion people and rising without the use of some sort of fuel. Well I guess they probably don't. (see starving kids in Somalia)
