Why is everyone so shocked? We humans have been using poisons as medicines for a very long time. Let's start with digitalis, derived from the Foxglove plant's digi toxin. Who would argue that it has saved hundreds of lives? How about laudanum, from Belladonna? Vitamin A in large enough doses is toxic. Radiation kills cancer cells and exposes fractures and tumors, but I wouldn't want to be exposed to even those dosages daily. Still, I am exposed to some extent since some radiation reaches the ground from space.
