I don't imagine them making these street legal, and LEOs are gonna have to fork out their own paychecks to get one of these.

This is a far better solution than the current one of using aircraft with missiles/bombs that leave too much collateral damage.

One of the lesson's learned from recently past wars is that air superiority only goes so far. You don't control a piece of land until your people on the ground control it.

If they get the cost of these rounds down to $35 each or less it will be a game changer. Give this thing a 1 square foot hole to go through and you can fill a room with a deadly rain from the inside out.

AP/HE rounds could be set to detonate after impact to improve penetration of masonry walls to open up those holes in buildings.

the program cannot be changed after firing.

If IT history tells us anything - it's that anything can be hacked and reprogrammed. I'm sure the Chinese are working on this as we write - given that they have already hacked all the weapons research data.

The "reprogramming" could be disabled by a simple physical switch or contact on the charge. Delivering data while in the air is one thing. Delivering power or physical contact is quite another.

Given the number of missing suitcase nukes from the former Soviet Union and pretty much every other weapons systems - especially small arms lack of successful accountability - you can bet they will be in the open market almost as soon as the military has them - maybe sooner, because the prototypes have been around for years.

This WILL find its way into the "domestic suppression" market, and eventually it WILL be used to target protestors.
