RE: The Future Of... Kitchen Counters
Just one more step towards a society where nobody thinks anymore. The technology itself seems interesting and may have some application for the handicapped, especially those who have vision problems, but I don't need a computer to tell me what to make for dinner. The computer between my ears does a much better job.

I have replied to this exact presentation before here
While this is great gee-wizz, interesting technology, it is not really useful.

Intel needs to get out in the real world and talk to ordinary people that work in their kitchens everyday. Not geeks that want to gadgetize their kitchen. This is more in telling the world what they want instead of asking what is needed and supplying it.

Would it not be better to let the cook enter what they wanted to make and the computer system give the ingredients and receipe?

RE: The Future Of... Kitchen Counters
I already drag my netbook into the kitchen to access AllRecipes.com, and routinely have a shopping list on my smartphone. Someone thinks an interactive counter will be next. Maybe so, maybe no. But the use visual identification software definitely has other applications, and if this is a popularly accessible place to start, then they may be on to something.
