What makes economic sense for home use is to keep using CFL for a few more years. If you have a fixture that is hard to access or are paying union wages for people to replace bulbs, then it makes sense to use a $45 LED bulb, but for most purposes figure on going through a couple of more CFLs per fixture. In six - eight years the price & light output of LED bulbs will be a lot more attractive.
In 2010 the competition for LED bulbs is CFLs; $4 for a couple of CFLs looks mighty attractive in the short run while you wait for the LED technology to improve.
