I grew up on a family hog farm, but believe it or not, much of what you say is true. Livestock and meat consumption are major consumers of agricultural resources. However, I would argue the success of large "industrial" livestock operations comes about because they are simply more economical than family livestock operations (but with more of the other problems you point out). However, the vast majority of humans love their meat. We are biologically predisposed to prefer meat because of its unique protein and energy attributes. As an example. the quickest and biggest win to be made in fighting man-made global warming would be to ban all meat consumption. Unlike other areas of greenhouse gas production, we already have cheaper and readily available alternatives which would harm the environment much less. Yet you almost never hear any advocate against global warming suggest that meat consumption should be ended. The truth is most of these people will put up with underpowered cars and draconian cap and trade taxes, but they will not let anybody get between them and their steaks.

We need to stop using hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, etc. before we worry much about greenhouse gas emission. These items are messing our bodies up (obesity, mental disorders, various other failing body functions).
