I'm surprised it doesn't have an inverter built in. It would be much more efficient than going from 200+ DC volts down to 12 volts DC then brought back up to 120 volts AC. Although not a hybrid, the Toyota Matrix came with one standard but it wasn't very powerful (~100 watts). In any case, what this guy did wasn't special because you could do it with anything that charged a 12 volt battery, even a motorcycle.
