The problem is....there is no "real" science to refute, so it is indeed political. Over the eons there have been many species who couldn't adapt to the various up and down climate changes. In the future, mankind may be nearly one of them yet again as has been in the past, but will more than likely find niches, adapt and then rebuild.

The part that worries me is someone may come up with something that will radically change the balance and interactions of the whole system and really muck the works up!
