One thing I would really like Smart Planet to start doing is follow up stories. When this Memento ACTUALLY comes to market, please let your readers know.

Is this site now a store offering high tech products which may or may not make it to serial production.

Cool, but will have to be cheaper.
I've got a VGA resolution camera (albeit without GPS) that I bought for $10. I hook it up to the dog.
But what little privacy we had left in this world is quickly disappearing.

Fine, but
Who wants to watch that movie?
What did you do today?
I watched a video of everything I did yesterday. It was really coo; want to watch?
No, thanks.

Privacy ?
Scary thought ...... to be tracked all of the time.
And then we wonder what happened to our privacy.
Interesting times.

Dying for this product
My cycling friends and I have been looking for a way to get pictures from our rides for a number of years. This is the answer. Click it onto the handlebars and go. They will sell a ton of these at bike shops! Going to invest.

Personal Memory Device
I can see good and bad with this product. The good is that it can remember moments for you that might be helpful to have precise details, the bad is that this device dumps the photos to a cloud storage area at a risk of privacy.
It can be useful to document incidences like accidents and encounters. It would help if it had sound to record at the same time of the pictures. I would like to see a follow up article on this as well.

you got it, already exists
there's a VGA camera the size of a USB stick which can record hours of video and audio - I don't know who makes it, but I know where to get one.

Could be useful as an anti-crime/anti-abduction tool,
especially for children.
The device could be strapped on to the shirt/blouse of a child, and whether on the way to school or back from school, the camera records the kid's every move and his/her surrounding. It could also be used when kids are in playgrounds and in stores and in theme parks and other crowded places. The device could be uploading instantaneously to the cloud, instead of waiting for the end of the day when a parent/guardian/supervisor might issue the command to download the camera's contents. If the contents are being sent to the cloud, then, if a child is abducted, chances are that, the camera will have caught a glimpse of the abductor and location and vehicle (if any), and the camera itself won't be needed to get the images. Also, if the child is abducted, and the abductor fails to take the device off the child, it could serve to capture further evidence, like the route that the child was taken on.
However, the device has to be made flat and wearable and less intrusive/obstructive on the child's body.

Unstoppable changes
Some readers are concerned with privacy disappearing, but it started disappearing with the first wall phone in homes, with its subsequent improvements and now with cellulars.
This camera will take it a bit further.
All these devices started modifying our privacy and our mores, little by little, and we accept each modification as it comes because there's nothing we can do to stop it.
Eventually cell phones will be implanted in our skulls and maybe this camera too.
Later on the bionic man will take over the human model and then that world will be totally unrecognizable to us.

GREAT IDEA,BUT......
This is really a great idea. Unfortunately it is way too expensive for what it can do. I bought a pen with camera(minus GPS) which cost only around $40.00. It is available at Costco, Amazon, Ebay etc. It takes food images and has voice recording as well It is less conspicuous and looks much pretty. I will wait till the initial hype wears off and is available for around $49.99 for post Christmas sale.

REMINDS ME OF A NOVEL BY ARTHUR C. CLARKE
I forget the title, but some shmuck, who refused to wear his camera on principle, got executed for a murder he didn't commit.

Great product. Imagine using this for someone with Alzheimer's. Being able to track them if they wander off. Or attach it your pet's collar. Or the previously mentioned idea of keeping track of your children's whereabouts. I envision someone taking pictures of a vacation spot for friends and family to share almost instantaneously. Good work Niclas! How soon before there is a video version of this great idea?

The Cloud?
why is is necessary to go to the cloud? An all day vid would take forever to load up on my dial up connection at home (rural Vermont).!
Sounds like a cool little device, but I would hope no clouds would be necessary. Maybe to a local computer where you could snip out that precious moment.

Cloud service is now complemented by local storage.
Hi, thanks for your question! When we reached our stretch goal of $350.000 on Kickstarter we added the option to store photos locally. We're striving to create a great user experience in organizing and navigating through one's photos in our apps, but it's YOUR pictures and you will do with them what you choose!
Best, Niclas

Momento camera
A couple questions about its operation.
1. Can it be 'switched off?
2. Are there 'outputs built-in?
3. How large is the camera's lens field of vision?
