by what definition
If this report is correct then europe is doing very well for itself. Unfortunately reality doesn't support this. This report seems to be more of a propoganda report to make people feel good after they are given a coupon for a free big mac and then find out they are actually standing in line for a soy burger at wimpys.

It would be a better article if there were some examples of what these innovative countries really produced. Betamax was innovative but lost the video tape wars. Cars with doors that open in the front were innovative, but are safety hazards. DDT was innovative but we know what that does to people also. While adding a piece of rubber to the end of a wooden stick with some grahite in it actually is still innovative today.

innovation centers
innovation of new ideas and products
What you can buy at your local store and what is the latest innovation and ideas do'nt mean that is workable for practicale use. Many ideas and innotvations are just wishful thinking. When you can buy the finish product at your local store and it proves reliable and useful, then that is a innivation leader.
