Albert Einstein used to play the violin when he got stuck. Starting in the 1950s until his death in the early '70s, the mathematician Jacob Bronowski wrote a great deal about the connections between science and art, including his books "Science and Human Values" and "The Identity of Man". He also explored the connections in his landmark television series "The Ascent of Man".
