While I agree that sounds innovative and very useful, I'd add a serious psycho-social analysis as well, simply because in major urban centers, communities are often stretched with resources and kids are growing up a whole host social problems - such as exposure to violence or neglect, that needs to be addressed. I'd also add this idea of forced parental involvement; there are way too many kids growing up in situations where a parent(s) are part of the problem, so I'd like to see programs that takes that variable into account. Finally, if there are all these great techniques in how to improve our education, why couldn't these techniques be applied to public schools??? I think it's a bad combination: Corporate America and our children's education. Considering the talent corporate america has for prioritizing the bottom line at the expense of relevant human elements: employees or customers, I think we should VERY circumspect, along with LOTS of oversight, when it comes to placing our trust (and tax dollars) and our kids' lives into their hands.
