Liquid Nitrogen Turbine
Our company - Nitro-Turbodyne - currently produces a liquid-nitrogen-powered turbine for use in power generation at remote oil and gas well sites. The technology has won two international awards for innovation.
When coupled with a battery pack, our tubine can easily be used in a hybrid configuration to power an automobile - or even better, large, over-the-road vehicles that currently use diesel or gasoline.
Our turbine does not require heat sinks, anti-freeze medium or any other additives to the expansion process as other liquid-nitrogen motors do because the expansion of the LN2 takes place directly in the turbine engine itself. The resulting high-speed stream of nitrogen-enriched air is used to drive a generator, a pump or a flywheel, and does so without the strain of additional load on the turbine components themselves. This allows the turbine to turn at a constant speed, optimizing the economy of the turbine. Finally, since the turbine has but 1 moving part (the turbine wheel), it has the capability of running for tens of thousands of hours without the requirement for lubrication or maintenance.
