This is why more money should be allocated to NASA than the Department of Defense/War Machine Their advancements benefit all of the humanity, unlike defense spending which just lines pockets of Defense contractors, lobbyist and politician. Founding Fathers never dreamed of having military bases all over the world. Keep troops at home for national defense and many conflicts would be avoided. We didnt want Russian missiles in Cuba, why do we think others do not feel same way about having outsiders in their backyards. We cannot afford to police shipping lanes so oil, gas and multinational corporations shipments are not hijacked by pirates, these corporations should pay independent contractors to protect their products. They would then have to price product to cover these costs, which would show true cost of product. It might actually be cheaper to build products here, if these costs were not picked up by US taxpayer.

Double it to be 1.5% of the National budget! Who would notice the additional 0.75%? Bet we could cut some pork-barrel to make up for it if anyone said anything.
