        <description><![CDATA[This intervention is too new and still in a very primitive stage to make a definitive statement.The couple of samples (in photos) I've seen --I'm sorry to say it-- are... terrifying.And that must be the main reason for the recipients to suffer mental disturbances when seeing their new faces in a hand mirror.They forgot too soon the way they looked before the transplant, when they lost their own faces, and this is quite regrettable too, since now, even if not totally adequate, their new face allows them to go out and face the world.But the way science advances, no doubt in a few years time this operation won't be any different than now it is to reshape one's nose. The patients with face transplants done so far are, as usual with anything new in medicine, martyrs, sacrificed to the progress of the intervention until a state of the art is obtained.]]></description>
