In Melbourne, the business of street art

Melbourne is a sweet town that we visited briefly and loved. This street art concept is a great addition to the town.

It does add a great layer of interest and texture to the city promoted and marketed as an attraction. If you come again there are street art walking tours that meander through the alleys and secret places. Thanks for your comment. Romy

If it is outside on a wall you don't own it is still graffiti! Soon every city will look like a huge Peter Max gallery.

As well as the bright bold aerosol expressions we are seeing more and more use of a subdued colour palette demonstrating 'fine art' techniques on the streets. Subtle small pieces too - Check out an artist Pablo Delagado's work...Teenie tiny interactive paste-ups.

Some walls in Victoria BC have had murals painted on them, and I think that it looks great. Another little 'artsy' town slightly North of Victoria is Chemainus, which also benefits from having murals painted on otherwise boring brick walls.

years ago in New York one could not go down into the subway without being accosted by a graffitied train. today they're nonexistent. it's bleak enough underground; where has all the color gone.

Maybe there is an opportunity for Street Art in it's evolved state to return to its roots in the NY Subway Systems? Kind of pay tribute to its past. thank You for your comment. Romy
