Eyes
I've wondered in the past why my eyes don't get infected since I rub them a lot. in the last two weeks I wondered once again why that is. These scientists took the time to find out.

Please don't make an antibiotic out of this
It will get over-prescribed by doctors and not taken correctly by patients, and soon we'll have several strains of common bacteria that are immune. Then the eye infections will begin. Better to let a few people die than to have 10% of us blind.

Too late
Bacteria that attack the eyes have already had many thousands of years to adapt to keratin because everyone already has it on their corneas. The use of keratin based drugs to treat infections in other parts of the body is not going to make bacteria that attack the eyes any more resistant to keratin than they already are.

They need to study phoenix tears...
The only thing that can cure basilisk venom is the tears of a phoenix.. LOL

On a more serious note... Viral and bacterial pinkeye (also called conjunctivitis) are contagious and spread very easily. Tears don't have any effect on them. But it's worth a shot to see if they can knock out certain super bugs.

SHOCKING FIND
This has been the most interesting article this week. We are still gonna live on this earth for years to come and in those years things may get worse so it is good to see that some research is done.
