Loved the interview
I recently wrote a piece on robotics and artificial intelligence that complements this conversation. http://www.21stcentech.com/robotics-artificial-intelligence-update-machine-ethics-laws-robotics/
Philosophy professor David Gunkel has written a book, "The Machine Question" that looks at our relationship with robots in the near future. And the work being done at University of Connecticut and University of Hartford on machine ethics should lead to a breakthrough in robot-human interaction.

Getting ahead of ourselves
Neither to agree or disagree, but these sorts of questions are moot until there are AI capable of abstract thought. As of 2012, there's no guarantee that will ever be possible no matter how much computing power they have.

bad news for lots of humans
Nice to know predictions of poverty and jobless into the future as robots do more and more of the work is going to come true would have hated if living with robots was all good and utopian.
