spying and information theft aside, they do send unwanted RF directly into anyone in front of the meter. There is a smart meter on the side of the neighbor's house instead of on the front. Its placement puts it facing my bed and 15 FT away. I don't like that at all. It needs to go.

Just line your walls with tin foil. That should reduce the problem.

Smart meters transmit a relatively small amount of energy for a very short amount of time. Do you have a cell phone? It's transmitting more power more of the time. Even when it's sitting there idle it's not really idle. It lets the cell system know its available by sending out little packets of information frequently and so the battery goes down even when you think you are not using it. Question is - are you dead yet? No? How come? And if that's true the and you are surrounded by cell towers and cell phones and the mean average of people getting cancers is not increasing then why would smart meters be any worse when they are putting out less energy over time?
Regarding house fires from installation of Smart Meters - the installation is only as good as the base hardware. All of the fires I have heard of weren't from the Smart Meters themselves, instead the fires were from rusty rotten bases that allowed short circuits and fires to ensue. In a situation like that the installer should not have gone any further after doing an inspection. It should have been evident that the base was in need of replacement or repair. There are some pretty shabby building structures out there.
How about the replacement of water meter reading systems with RF read ones. Have you noticed that in your block in Victoria? Have you started to complain about them yet? Better not they are pretty innocuous too. So many people wanting to suffer from psychosomatic illnesses out there, afraid of everything they don't understand.

I don't really see what the difference between cell phone transmissions and smart meter transmissions is. With the ubiquity of cell phones and towers we have far more exposure to them, particularly when you're holding them up to your ear.

There's far more to fear from dumb drivers than there is from smart meters
