GBP25Bn Waste of money??
Specifically as a UK Taxpayer, it's uncertain if this is a good idea or a fundamental GBP25bn of money desperately needed elsewhere in austerity times, down the toilet.

The Aquatics center went from estimated GBP70m to GBP250m in reality, as an example of extravagant spending........

Different Country
"MELBOURNE Today London will become the center of the sporting universe with the first Summer Olympics 2012 event, a soccer match, being held at Cardiffs Millennium Stadium."

London is in England, Cardiff is in Wales....... just sayin'

RE: Different Country
Yeah, good point. The facts are right but the sentence is misleading. I'll change now. Thanks Mouseboy007.

American Revisionist Geography
I think American's know Tom Jones is Welsh, but the haven't got the foggiest idea what that means, and think Scatland wink is part of England, and Cardiff is one of it's cities. S'Where Torchwood is, if they get BBC America - LOL.

Developing World
For developed countries, the games can be a way to showcase strength and invite tourism and many good things, but in a developing country like India, if you host games like CWG or Olympics, it just seems unethical with so much starvation and poverty around. It just seems like opportunity for politicians to make money through corrupt means.
After the games, there has been no proper accountability whether there was net financial gain from the endeavor. What the games have done to improve society and human condition apart from the populist and politically publicized notions of national pride and honor?
