Chinese respect for German tech?

The comment about western firms sucking out the good parts and leaving a withered corpse is very telling. Looking back, I tend to think it is too close to the truth. Another point that is telling is infrastructure

I guess there are a few scenarios..

Western private equity - sum of the parts may be greater than the whole so restructure and sell, arguably improving the use of capital, maybe some job losses and a few good bonuses.

Western equity - synergies seen in combining the parts (50/50 the merger creates value) aims to deepen market share or control of the supply chain - consumers pay more, a few job losses with efficiencies of scale and a few good bonuses.

Chinese equity - buy the Intellectual Property and bring it in house, leverage cheap coal fired energy and an abundance of workers to undercut on the export market. Long term loss of competitive advantage for the West.

You have to ask? China will own Germany's technological prowess in a decade or so by buying it, by forcing Germany to build in China and release the technology, and by stealing technology -- as they have done with the U.S.

Duh

Whoever moved their production line to China see a significant reduction in quality. I try not buy a VW or GM car, nor a SONY/PANASONIC TV which is Made in PRC.
Samsung did a good job in sucking the juice out from Japan and overtake as leader in Tech and Quality. However with the mind set (corrupted and careless) of the workers and management even with the Tech they cannot maintain the quality of products. Is the pride of the German and Japanese workers who in their heart to drive for excellence and perfection gave us the excellent product in the past century.
