Yes, location is important, but...
even more important is the rate at which a vehicle can be charged. It's great if there's a charging station between point A and B, but is the vehicle owner going to want to hang out there for 3-4 hours? We need charging stations at destinations where owners will want to spend time, like malls, parking garages, nice restautrants, etc. It doesn't take Big Data to figure this out. And we also need vehicles capable of being charged at much higher rates (only the Leaf has this feature, to my knowlege)
