Great article, now we should keep promoting taking away american jobs to elsewhere. We are shooting ourseleves on the foot. As americans we should encourage more businesses to stay and grow here, not encourage them to leave. I guess that's the main so called benefit of globalization, go elsewhere and do your business, but keep the owners and stockholders in the USA happy with more profits.

I get the low energy cost part of this idea. But the world is basically moving from bricks and mortar to the virtual internet. Is it truly wise to move the data centers for that virtual world of cloud servers, data storage and business applications on to one of the most unstable volcanic Islands on earth? Isn't this just a bit short sited?

What do all those highly successful technology companies know anyway? Just cave to the enviro-nazis and move our crucial data and computing centers to a volcanic island that is frozen over most of the year. Yeah, that's the ticket.

On the plus side, now that Iceland has told the global banksters where to shove their bailouts, Iceland has gone from bankruptcy, to the 14th most developed country in the world and the fourth most productive country per capital - in three short years!

Does Iceland even have the global Internet access bandwidth and the Internet redundancy needed to support the scope of the facilities in question?

I highly doubt it.
