Washington to offer voter registration on Facebook

Washington Secretary of State

On Tuesday, Washington’s secretary of state announced that his state will become the first to allow residents to register to vote on Facebook. Using a Microsoft app that may be accessed through the office’s Facebook page, users will be able to complete the registration process at their computers.

Back in 2008, Washington was the second state to offer online voter registration through the MyVote system. Now over a dozen states do so and Washington aims to make the process even easier by making the system accessible via Facebook. The app, which has been in the works since last fall, could go live as early as next week.

The state hopes that this move will provide a more user-friendly registration process for residents. ““In this age of social media and more people going online for services, this is a natural way to introduce people to online registration and leverage the power of friends on Facebook to get more people registered,” said Shane Hamlin, co-director of elections.

Voter Registration on line
Interesting directions considering so many red states are attempting to disenfranchise selected voters. Online voting may enhance voter registration security.

The Obama administration chicken id's.
They fight voter registration laws, but soon every chicken in the country will be required to have an ID.

It has begun!!!
Next, voting will be done via facebook... Laws will fail or be passed with a thumbs up or down... Everyone will be required to get a facebook page... Everyone will become a douche bag and hackers will control the world... Seriously???

Only douche bags use social media... And I agree that politicians are indeed douche bags, I'm not about to get a moronic facebook page...

No, no, no
I live in Washington, that's not gonna happen. You can register online (doesn't have to be on Facebook), but to vote you have to physically fill out a ballot - and mail it in...or drop it off...or you can go to the polls, if you're old-fashioned. This is not a red state, and it's making it easier for people to vote instead of harder.
