TextSpresso Machine

TextSpresso Machine

Zipwhip, a Seattle-based startup, has developed an espresso machine of the future that brews a cup of coffee after receiving a command to do so via text message. Though intended for purely functional purposes at the company’s office, such a machine may soon be in high demand.

Zipwhip’s known for their cloud texting services, which allow you to send and receive text messages from your computer using your cell phone number, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that they found another way to innovate texting technology. The TextSpresso machine processes individual’s various orders and is equipped with an inkjet printer filled with edible ink to print the customer’s mobile number on his or her cup to prevent orders from getting mixed up as it churns out coffee for the entire office.

Though Zipwhip will share the plans and parts used to make the TextSpresso machine online, they don’t plan on manufacturing any more. Anyone wishing to try out this product must either spend the thousands of dollars and 20 days it took to build themselves–or find a way into the Zipwhip office. One thing’s for sure: other company’s will have a tough time competing for the title of “best startup to work for.”
