Online private service designed for people caring for others
CareZone, a startup designed by former Sun Microsystems CEO Jonathan Schwartz, offers people caring for others an organized and private way to manage care. The site is aimed at spouses, children, parents, or siblings caring for loved ones.
The site, which describes itself as "a safe place to care for loved ones", allows users to keep doctor contacts, medical records and other details and health information in one secure place. Users have the option of allowing health care providers temporary access to the information, making the medical care process simpler. The site prides itself on the element of privacy it provides its customers: everything is password protected and CareZone plans to find revenue by charging account-holders rather than running ads.
As TIME's Harry McCracken pointed out, dealing with a loved one's medical issues is something that everyone must face eventually, and thus the site's "potential market is enormous." CareZone is still in its early stages, but has more plans to add more features down the road.
