Boeing 787 First Flight Delayed Again

Written by John Dodge, Contributor

I knew something wasn't right. Boeing was supposed fly the much-delayed and ballyhooed Boeing 787 Dreamliner before the end of the month and there are only seven days left. Media types were supposed to get a week's notice before trekking to Seattle to witness first takeoff and landing. The schedule was impossibly tight.

Well, Boeing just announced yet another anticipated delay. This marvel of technology has be reinforced in a "side of body" area. The first plane could have flown a modified test flight, but Boeing decided what's the point if it can't do full flight testing. It'll be "several weeks" before Boeing comes up with a new first flight schedule.

The press release just hit the wire and my e-mailbox. A webcast is scheduled for 10 EDT.
