Become a space entrepreneur

By | October 30, 2009, 8:17 AM PDT

The eSpace center has put out a second call for entrepreneurs to join its incubator program.

The center is a joint venture between the University of Colorado and Sierra Nevada Corp., which includes a space systems division.

The board of directors includes representatives of other companies, and there are advisers who work at NASA. The facility is co-located within the space systems division of Sierra Nevada.

The first set of incubator invitees included a company looking to bring cyber-security to space, and a company combining telescopes and software to track space debris.

This is an outgrowth of its Center for Space Entrepreneurship, a conviction that research and outsourcing dollars are adequate to create a private sector of space companies.

Some 38 companies were evaluated before launching the “eSpace three” into the incubator, and yours could be next.
