How long does it take to erect a wind turbine? According to a new video, seven minutes.
(Just kidding. It actually takes much longer than that. Three cheers for time-lapse technology!)
The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority announced in September that it would erect a 1.5-megawatt Sinovel wind turbine in Charlestown, Mass. It appears that the promise has finally been fulfilled.
Watch the pieces come together:
The turbine is 364 feet tall and is expected to generate 3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year, saving the utility about $350,000 each year. It was erected by Lumus Construction with the help of $4.7 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stimulus funds.
