1.) Smart grid growing in North America. Smart grid growth in Canada and the United States will likely encourage greater investment in renewable energy resources and electric vehicle adoption, according to a recent report.
2.) Smart energy grids need protection from cyber attacks, ENISA says. Smart grid dependency on computer networks, applications and the Internet makes society more vulnerable to malicious cyber attacks with potentially devastating results, the European Network and Information Security Agency said in a report published on Tuesday.
3.) Smart grid and electric vehicles: A match made in heaven? The widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) will lead to greater consumption of electricity. As a result, existing electricity systems will have to be reconfigured to meet these needs.
4.) PPL’s smart grid project online. PPL Corporation’s subsidiary PPL Electric Utilities has completed its ’smart grid’ pilot project.
5.) When storms attack, a smart grid could reduce outages, speed recovery. It’s been a bad 12 months for electric utilities and the customers who depend on them.
