"The Morning Briefing" is SmartPlanet's daily roundup of must-reads from the web. This morning we're reading about entrepreneurial trends and investment.

.) World and women: current entrepreneurial trends and their challenges. A Q&A with Lesa Mitchell, vice President of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, a nonprofit based in Kansas City, Mo. The foundation conducts research and offers programs to advance entrepreneurship. What are the current trends in the entrepreneurial sphere?

.) Grow America announced to support local economies. Founder Alan E. Hall has been joined by partners Zions Bank, Comcast Business Class, Comcast Spotlight, KUTV2, Utah Jazz and KJZZ-TV to launch Grow America, an organization that supports, encourages, and strengthens entrepreneurship wherever and whenever it is found.

.) Your community as a startup ecosystem. Entrepreneurial communities centered around academic institutions are increasing across the country. For an ideal entrepreneur ecosystem, you also need a strong mix of angel investors, venture capitalists, recruiters, junior talent and leaders. What else?

.) Sir Richard Branson calls for special loans for young tycoons. Instead of being laden with debt for tuition fees, should young people be able to claim startup capital to fund their business ideas? According to the Virgin boss, the UK government should do more to support our economic future.

.) Regulators risk being drowned in red tape, says Bank chief. A deputy governor of the Bank of England has launched criticism aimed at new European regulations that he warns could create further financial crises, and are both over-complicated and too costly.
