NASA on March 16-18 will host a water sustainability forum via its Launch initiative.
The Launch initiative is designed to cook up solutions to sustainability challenges. The “Launch: Water” powwow will be held at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA, the U.S. Agency for International Development, State Department and Nike are founding partners of Launch.
According to NASA, its water sustainability conference will bring together 10 entrepreneurs to propose fixes to water shortages.
Some of the innovators in the water sustainability department include:
- WaterCredit Initiative, which provides credit for sanitation and water projects.
- VertiCrop, which is focused on sustainable irrigation projects.
- ElectroChemical Arsenic Remediation (ECAR), which is aimed at reducing arsenic exposure in drinking water.
- Aquacue Barnacle, which is focused on water consumption data and changing habits.
- Low Cost Water Tests to gauge the dangers lurking in drinking water.
- More Crop per Drop to focus on better irrigation practices.
- Manna Energy, which purifies water and is poised to earn UN carbon credits.
- HydroPlatform, which aims to create better water systems.
- Floating Sensor Network, which monitors water conditions in systems.
- Dutyion Root Hydration System (dRHS), which aims to make saltwater suitable for agriculture.
