MIT simulator puts you in driver’s seat at solar company

By | June 3, 2010, 5:48 AM PDT

MIT on Thursday released a new management flight simulator and case study focused on the solar industry. If you ever wanted to run a solar player like SunPower, here’s your chance.

MIT’s simulator, released on the Sloan School of Management’s open courseware site, addresses management issues revolving around growth, pricing and protecting proprietary intellectual property.

According to MIT, the simulator was designed with faculty and solar industry executives. Users will compete against other computer-generated companies and set pricing. The goal is to maximize profits over the long run, but there options to lower greenhouse gasses.

Here are a few screenshots of the simulator. Overall, it looks like a handy way to learn the solar industry’s business dynamics.
