Mensa names its Top 50 sites on the Web

By | March 22, 2010, 10:20 AM PDT

Mensa, the largest and oldest high-IQ society in the world, has named its top 50 Web sites for 2010.

American Mensa says its members nominated more than 300 “wide-ranging, diverse, and sometimes quirky” sites, which the organization divided into eight categories: art & culture, entertainment & humor, news & politics, reference, science & technology, search engines, shopping and social networking & media.

Here is a list of the results:

Art and Culture

Entertainment and Humor

News and Politics

Reference

Science and Technology

Search Engines

Shopping

Social networking/Media

As it turns out, the world’s smartest group of people are a lot like us when it comes to wasting, er, spending time online.

However, in our opinion, the science and technology list is a little on the short side.

We suggest that the brainiacs at Mensa add to the list Popular Mechanics, Engadget, Scientific American, Discovery News, CNET, Wired Science and, of course, SmartPlanet.
