The first generation of electric cars, from 2011 to 2013, will be bought by early adopters. By 2020, electric vehicles will have hit the mass market.

At the Networked EV conference in San Francisco, David Leeds, a senior manager with Greentech Media, shows his timeline for the rollout of the electric vehicle.
