LDK Solar, which makes solar wafers, upped its third quarter outlook on strong demand.
Specifically, LDK said it expects to report revenue between $610 million to $640 million. Wall Street was expecting revenue of $580 million. LDK’s previous revenue range was $570 million to $600 million for the third quarter.
Overall, LDK expects to deliver wafer shipments of 550 to 570 megawatts, up from its previous outlook of 520 to 550 MW. Module shipments will be 80 MW to 90 MW, up from its outlook for 75 to 85 MW.
Separately, Canadian Solar said that its financial outlook was solid and that 2010 shipments would be at the mid- to high-end of the company’s previous guidance. However, Canadian Solar is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission for its accounting. Canadian Solar named Andrew Chen as chief financial officer to replace Arthur Chien.
The broader picture seems to indicate that solar demand is strong.
