JA Solar Holdings on Wednesday won a 185 MW deal to supply solar cells to BP Solar.

Under the arrangement, JA Solar, based in Shanghai, will supply BP Solar with mono-crystalline and multi-crystalline solar cells in 2010 and through 2011.

The deal kicks off in the first quarter of 2011 and JA Solar said it will provide more than 100 MW. In another agreement, JA Solar said it would provide another 85 MW of solar cells. That deal has largely been fulfilled and will continue through the fourth quarter.

BP Solar, based in San Francisco, has used JA Solar as a supplier since 2008. The BP Solar deal gives JA Solar firm orders for another year.

BP Solar is part of BP Alternative Energy, which employs about 1,600 people. The company makes solar energy systems for homes, commercial, industrial buildings as well as utilities.
