Did you know that the United States spends more on health care than any other country in the world, yet has higher rates of infant mortality, diabetes and other ailments than many of its developed peers?
Healthcare needn’t get political — sometimes, it’s all about the facts.
A new infographic from Visual Economics translates all the zeroes into a handy chart that shows just how much cash nations invest in health care, and how much return they’re getting on that investment.
The results, of course, are fascinating. The U.S. spends $5,711 per person. Meanwhile, the U.K. spends $2,317, Germany spends $2,983, France spends $3,048 and northern neighbors Canada, $2,998.
Even as a percentage of total gross domestic product, the U.S. outspends them all — without much justification in the way of results.
You can see the entire infographic here. Perhaps it’s time to ask ourselves: can we make healthcare smarter?
