Hoover takes over as CEO of PARC

By | January 11, 2011, 4:12 AM PST

The Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) named Steve Hoover CEO as the Mark Bernstein retires.

Hoover most recently was vice president of Xerox’s software and electronics development group. Xerox owns PARC. At Xerox Hoover oversaw a $175 million research and development budget. Hoover joined Xerox in 1994.

As noted by Bernstein in a recent interview, PARC is focusing half of its effort on helping Xerox, which acquired ACS last year and has a good chance of melding services and research.

Hoover takes over Feb. 1. In a statement, Hoover said he will continue PARC’s “open environment where employees, technology visions, and business success can flourish globally.”
